Closing Time.

Hey gang. Or one person. Maybe three. If you’re reading this and have been a fan of the Erik & James Disagree About Comics podcast, it is with a heavy heart that I tell you… it’s not you, it’s me.
With the kids and work and soccer practice and freelance design jobs and hobbies and running a D&D campaign and trying to write screenplays in whatever spare time I might have, I just don’t have the time or energy to edit and release the podcast every week. It’s a joy to record – to get together with James and talk about comics (even though we disagree) each week – but the rest of it, the stuff that most podcasters have assistants and interns for, has taken too much time from an already packed schedule. We had a couple weeks off over the summer, and it was nice to be able to watch TV with my wife on a Tuesday night instead of editing the podcast for a Wednesday release. It was nice to have time to read a Deadpool comic to my son on a Monday night instead of re-listening to my talk with James about it from the day before.
James & I did the podcast for 11 months. It was a good run, 39 episodes (they number 40, but we skipped over Episode 20…never did get back to that one). 40 with the “50 Shades of MODOK” bonus episode. 41 if you count the one we recorded 2 weeks ago that I still haven’t had time to listen to, edit, or release.
James and I are still playing D&D together every 2 weeks; I’m starting a brand new campaign this Friday, running the new “Out of the Abyss” adventure. I’m pretty stoked about it…even if James is chafing my sense of verisimilitude by playing an extremely claustrophobic bird-man (aarakocra, for the nerds who know) in a completely subterranean scenario. But that’s James. So it goes.
So long, and thanks for all the downloads.
Long Live God Emperor Doom!
–Erik
