Hey gang. Or one person. Maybe three. If you’re reading this and have been a fan of the Erik & James Disagree About Comics podcast, it is with a heavy heart that I tell you… it’s not you, it’s me.

With the kids and work and soccer practice and freelance design jobs and hobbies and running a D&D campaign and trying to write screenplays in whatever spare time I might have, I just don’t have the time or energy to edit and release the podcast every week. It’s a joy to record – to get together with James and talk about comics (even though we disagree) each week – but the rest of it, the stuff that most podcasters have assistants and interns for, has taken too much time from an already packed schedule. We had a couple weeks off over the summer, and it was nice to be able to watch TV with my wife on a Tuesday night instead of editing the podcast for a Wednesday release. It was nice to have time to read a Deadpool comic to my son on a Monday night instead of re-listening to my talk with James about it from the day before.

James & I did the podcast for 11 months. It was a good run, 39 episodes (they number 40, but we skipped over Episode 20…never did get back to that one). 40 with the “50 Shades of MODOK” bonus episode. 41 if you count the one we recorded 2 weeks ago that I still haven’t had time to listen to, edit, or release.

James and I are still playing D&D together every 2 weeks; I’m starting a brand new campaign this Friday, running the new “Out of the Abyss” adventure. I’m pretty stoked about it…even if James is chafing my sense of verisimilitude by playing an extremely claustrophobic bird-man (aarakocra, for the nerds who know) in a completely subterranean scenario. But that’s James. So it goes.

So long, and thanks for all the downloads.

Long Live God Emperor Doom!

Erik’s Pull-List: Updated

Since announcing all those Marvel titles a couple weeks ago, a couple more have been announced that are must-haves for me:

Black Widow (Waid/Samnee)
Power Man & Iron Fist (Walker/Greene)
Howard the Duck (Zdarsky/Quinones) [I had a hard decision to make, and though it pained me to cut it, I was going to quit Howard. But…Gwenpool backups saved the series!]

And I forgot one non-superhero title I’ll be getting, as I have vowed to buy every comic Gerry Duggan writes for Marvel, forever:

Chewbacca (Duggan/Noto)

I believe that brings my number of monthly titles up to… 25.

Shit.

Episode 40: This Is 40

Disagreetings! It’s another tangent-packed, spoiler-filled episode as Erik & James take to the cloud to discuss and inevitably disagree about a handful of recent comic books. This week our heroes get into Weirdworld #4, 1872 #3, the Secret Wars: Secret Love one-shot, and Erik jumps in on Sinestro #15. They also delve into the recently announced roster of the post-Secret Wars, All-New, All-Different era of Marvel Comics, and reveal their most hotly-anticipated titles of the new launches. And, look out – they actually agree on one of them! Follow us on the Twitter at @EJDAC, tumble for us at ejdac.tumblr.com, and contact us via the electronic mail at erikandjamesdisagree@gmail.com

ERIK’S NEW PULL-LIST:
I had to make some hard choices and some bummer cuts, but I narrowed my All-New, All-Different Marvel ongoing titles down to a somewhat manageable 20.

In addition to that, in order to keep costs down, I’m stopping all Image comics single issues, but will still be reading Invincible, Saga, East of West, Injection, Deadly Class, Low, Black Science & Tokyo Ghost in trade paperback form. I’m also dropping the couple DC books I’ve been reading…well, actually, I’ll finish out the Harley Quinn & Power Girl miniseries, and I might keep getting Justice League 3001 just because Keith Giffen is so fun to read.

But here’s my Post-Secret Wars Marvel lineup:

A-Force (G. Willow Wilson / Jorge Molina)
All-New, All-Different Avengers (Mark Waid / Mahmud Asrar & Adam Kubert)
All-New Hawkeye (Jeff Lemire / Ramon Perez)
Astonishing Ant-Man (Nick Spencer / Ramon Rosanas)
Black Panther (Ta-Nehisi Coates / Brian Stelfreeze)
Captain America: Sam Wilson (Nick Spencer / Daniel Acuña)
Carnage (Gerry Conway / Mike Perkins)
Daredevil (Charles Soule / Ron Garney)
Deadpool (Gerry Duggan / Mike Hawthorne)
Doctor Strange (Jason Aaron / Chris Bachalo)
Illuminati (Josh Williamson / Shawn Crystal)
Invincible Iron Man ((Brian Michael Bendis / David Marquez)
Karnak (Warren Ellis / Gerardo Zaffino)
The Mighty Thor (Jason Aaron / Russell Dauterman)
Red Wolf (Nathan Edmondson / Dalibor Talajic)
Silver Surfer (Dan Slott / Mike Allred)
Spider-Man/Deadpool (Joe Kelly / Ed McGuiness)
Totally Awesome Hulk (Greg Pak / Frank Cho)
Uncanny Avengers (Gerry Duggan / Ryan Stegman)
Uncanny X-Men (Cullen Bunn / Greg Land)
